We are Companions on a Journey
Welcome to Year Two blog!
We are going to use our blog to improve
our literacy skills, in particular our focus will be writing. We will be writing using lots of different genres which could include diary entries, debates, story starters, story settings and many more.
We know that we will have to try our very best writing as our audience is potentially the whole world wide web. We would really appreciate you leaving comments as to what you looked about our writing and maybe a comment about how we could make our writing better.
Wendy Plevin (Wendy) on: Castles
This half term we are learning about Castles. What can you find out about castles? Where were they built? Why were they built? What were they made of? Have you ever visited a castle? Where was it? Have you any photographs you could bring to school?
Add a post to this blog with any information you can find out about castles.
Wendy Plevin (Wendy) on: Still Life
Before the Easter holidays Year Two began to work on their still life paintings in their Art lessons. Working with Mr. Wardach they learned how to use pastels to create a 3-D effect on their sketches. Then they sketched and painted a selection of fruit, bottles and other items. After the holidays they used pastels on top of the paint to create a 3-D effect. Their paintings will soon be on display in school, until then you can look at the photographs of the children creating their masterpieces by visiting the class page on our website.
admin on: Christmas Activites in Year Two
First we were busy rehearsing for the Nativity "The Sleepy Shepherd" learning our lines and singing the songs. Our favourite was Under a Star but The Bumpy Road was fun to learn. Then we made Christmas cards and Reindeer using card and red bobbles - all the reindeer have red noses! After that we made ginger biscuit stars which we carefully decorated later with white icing.
Wendy Plevin (Wendy) on: Learning to be healthy
Last week in science Year Two we learned about germs and why we need to keep clean. First we had "germs" spread all over our hands. Then we tried to wash them off. We learned that you have to wash them very carefully with soap otherwise the germs don't come off.
Next we learned how to keep our teeth healthy by eating healthy food and cleaning them regularly. The Brush Bus song helped us too!
