Outdoor Learning and Forest School at St Columba's

At St Columba's we firmly believe that Outdoor Learning has a positive impact on the whole child. We use our environment so that children have first hand learning experiences that they can relate to.

What is Forest Schools ?

Forest School is a programme , that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland. We are very lucky to have our own, small but beautiful area within the school grounds.

Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor and woodland education. We also make links to the school curriculum. At St Columba's all children from Nursery to Year 6 have the opportunity to learn within this environment. They take part in a series of planned sessions for usually half a day a week for eight weeks.
