We are Companions on a Journey
Welcome to Reception!
Welcome to Reception Class page!
In Early Years we work hard to make the first two years of your children's time at St Columba's happy ones.
We change and develop the classroom and outside area termly to keep it fresh and in sync with the children's interests.
We will be using this page for sharing learning, including photographs, videos and examples of work about all of the wonderful things we have been up to in Reception!
This term in Reception we celebrated Spring time and Easter. We have read the Easter story and learnt how Jesus died on the cross.
We looked at the different stations of the cross and the events leading up to Good Friday.
Chocolate Crispy nests!
Before Easter in reception we made chocolate crispy cake nests. We learnt that by heating the chocolate using warm water means that the chocolate melts and the cornflakes can be mixed in.
This links to our design and technology strand for this term of cooking and our designer Ainsley Hariott.
World Mental Health Day
For World Mental Health Day we read the colour monster story and talked about our feelings. We spoke about how it is ok to ask for help when we need it and that our family and friends are there to help us when we feel sad or upset.
We made our own colour monsters to take home and show our families.
