Welcome to Reception!

Welcome to Reception Class page!

In Early Years we work hard to make the first two years of your children's time at St Columba's happy ones.

We change and develop the classroom and outside area termly to keep it fresh and in  sync with the children's interests.

We will be using this page for sharing learning, including photographs, videos and examples of work about all of the wonderful things we have been up to in Reception!

Happy Diwali!

This week in Reception we celebrated the Hindu festival of lights, Diwali. We read the Rama and Sita story in class and made our own Diya lamps to remind us of how Rama and Sita got home and how good wins bad.

Vegetable soup making!

Last week in reception we made soup after reading the enormous turnip story.  We peeled and washed the vegetables before boiling them in a pan until soft. We then blended the vegetables into a puree and tried the vegetable soup we had made with bread at snack time. Most of the children found the soup delicious!

World Mental Health Day

For World Mental Health Day we read the colour monster story and talked about our feelings. We spoke about how it is ok to ask for help when we need it and that our family and friends are there to help us when we feel sad or upset.

We made our own colour monsters to take home and show our families.
