Welcome to Year 4!

We are enjoying reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling.

"There's always room for a story that can transport people to another place." J.K. Rowling

Hello Year 4!

I hope you have all had a nice Easter and are continuing to stay safe at home.

Our topics for Summer 1 half term:

We will look at stories which raise issues/dilemmas. We will be reading Bill’s New Frock by Anne Fine. Some of you may know the story already. I will post questions on this class page, relevant to each chapter.

Please keep up with reading each day.

We will be revisiting number and place value, addition and subtraction, mental multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, time and measure. Each week the Mathletics I set will be based on these topics.

Use this website to set daily mental maths for yourself:

Another good website:

Our science topic is Living Things and their Habitats. I will set interesting activities and research based around this theme.

Useful website:

This half term we will be learning about the Romans in history. I will set a variety of relevant tasks for you to have a go at, as well as tasks on Purple Mash. We can look at extracts from different books too. I can also set reading comprehensions but I will have to post the text and questions on here.

Useful websites:

Our topic is Drawing/ Hatching and the 3D Natural World. Have a go at drawing an object. There was an exercise to complete in your home learning pack.

Useful YouTube video (there are lots of others):

Have a look at the art blog on Purple Mash too. Post paintings, drawings and sketches on there. It explains how to do it, on the blog.

There is now a music blog on Purple Mash. Have a look at the fun activities you can do at home.

Remember to use our class blog which can be found on Purple Mash. Click on the sharing tab at the top of the page, then shared blogs, Year 4. You can ask me questions on there or for fun we have a ‘share a joke’. If you can think of other posts you would like including just let me know.

Keep up the good work!

World Book Day!

Year 4 have really enjoyed sharing their favourite book with their friends in class.

Year 4 have done a fantastic assembly about what they have learnt so far. Below is their dance about how we are all guided by the Holy Spirit.

We have been looking at how particles are arranged in a solid, liquid and gas.

Year 4 have enjoyed learning about different medicines, what they do and how they are distributed, with Pfizer UK.
